Richard Gere is embarking on a fresh journey as he moves to Madrid with his wife Alejandra Silva and their children. During an appearance on the Today show, the 75-year-old Pretty Woman star revealed that the move was inspired by Silva’s Spanish roots. “For Alejandra, it will be wonderful to be closer to her family, her lifelong friends, and her culture,” Gere said in a recent Vanity Fair Spain interview.
Gere and Silva, who tied the knot in 2018, share two young sons, Alexander, 5, and James, 4. Silva also has an 11-year-old son from a previous marriage, and Gere has a 24-year-old son, Homer, from his second marriage. The couple’s decision comes after selling their $11 million Connecticut estate, a six-bedroom property they called home for two years.
In Spain, Gere looks forward to the lifestyle, food, and warm culture. Despite the move, the actor plans to keep a property in New York for a foothold in the U.S. Gere’s relocation coincides with the release of his new series The Agency, streaming Nov. 29 on Paramount+/Showtime.
