John Leguizamo’s Wife Justine Maurer Discovers Facebook: ‘It Connects Older Generations’

John Leguizamo’s wife, Justine Maurer, is diving into the world of social media—and she’s loving it! The 64-year-old actor, currently starring in the new dramedy Bob Trevino Likes It, shared with PEOPLE that Maurer recently joined Facebook and is thrilled to reconnect with old friends.

“She’s connecting with people from high school and even elementary school,” Leguizamo says of Maurer, whom he met in the early ’90s and married in June 2003. “Even though it’s outdated, it still connects older generations together.”

In Bob Trevino Likes It, Leguizamo plays Bob, a man who forms an unexpected bond with Lily Trevino (Barbie Ferreira) after she mistakes him for her estranged father on Facebook. Off-screen, Leguizamo and Ferreira, 28, quickly hit it off, bonding over their shared Latinx heritage and Queens, New York roots.

“We played basketball, had a few meals with the director, Tracie Laymon,” Leguizamo tells PEOPLE. “Tracie knew we needed to hang out to build that connection, and it really helped Barbie and me create this special relationship.”
