For the Mariners, the loss was a step backward after a promising road trip. Starter George Kirby lasted only 4⅓ innings, giving up four earned runs on six hits. The bullpen failed to contain the Yankees’ rally after the delay, and the offense didn’t fully wake up until late in the game.
Seattle managed to push across three runs in the final two frames, including a solo shot by Cal Raleigh, but by then the deficit was insurmountable.
“We didn’t execute post-delay,” Mariners manager Scott Servais said. “They came out swinging, and we didn’t match that energy.”
