The enigmatic stray cat vanishes into thin air, only to reappear when seeking a secure sanctuary to bring new life into the world.
Having become pregnant, a stray cat who constantly escaped those who wanted to help her decided to stop hiding. She now needed assistance, security and comfort to raise her unborn kittens in good conditions.
Somewhere in Arizona (United States), volunteers were desperately trying to help a stray cat who was systematically escaping them. After not being found for a while, she reappeared and wasn’t quite the same. Her belly had grown; she was pregnant.
The Phoenix- based organization Jin’s Bottle Babies Rescue and its founder Shelbi Uyehara were contacted about it. The latter welcomed her into her home.
She set up a comfortable room for him. The cat was quite friendly, but not used to living indoors. It took him more than a week to acclimate to this new way of life.
A few days later, she gave birth to 5 adorable kittens, all red . The kitten was now the mother of 3 males and 2 females.
Every time Shelbi Uyehara entered the room, the cat would get up to meet her and ask for petting. These expressions of tenderness and gratitude touched her benefactress, but she decided that it was probably better to reduce her visits so as to no longer interrupt the feedings.
Old reflexes that persist
Still strongly marked by her wandering life, the cat has retained some reflexes linked to insecurity, such as hiding her young in secluded places. “ Yesterday, I came in to give him something to eat ,” Shelbi Uyehara tells Love Meow about it . She had opened a dresser drawer and moved her babies in .”
Very attached to the one who offered her hospitality, the feline got into the habit of wrapping her paws around his arm or rubbing against his leg.
She continues to take care of her kittens and watch them grow up safe from need and danger. A few more weeks and they can be put up for adoption. She too will be able to discover her future family after having been sterilized to no longer suffer the fatigue of motherhood.
