Cooper Kupp predicted to land on NFC contender with $100 million Pro Bowl quarterback image

Cooper Kupp will be on a new team in 2025, as the Los Angeles Rams officially released the veteran wide receiver on Wednesday. Kupp spent eight years with the Rams and was a pivotal piece to the franchise’s Super Bowl squad in 2021.

The 31-year-old will have a few teams vying for his services in free agency, but Sporting News’ David Suggs lists the Seattle Seahawks as a top landing spot for the former All-Pro receiver.

“The Seahawks entered a period of transition this offseason, parting ways with first-team fixtures Geno Smith and DK Metcalf in return for a treasure trove of draft capital. Seattle doesn’t look to have any interest in rebuilding, bringing in Sam Darnold on a three-year, $100.5 million deal. What better way to fortify that investment than landing a steady target like Kupp?” Suggs wrote.

“Kupp is a wily veteran who can help Smith-Njigba develop while serving as a safety blanket of sorts for Darnold. He’d also get a chance to play against his former employers twice a year, an enticing proposition to be sure. Mix in the prospect of a return to his Pacific Northwest roots, and it’s easy to see the appeal of a Kupp-Seahawks partnership,” Suggs added.

Though Kupp’s production has dipped since his historic 2021 campaign, where he hauled in 145 receptions for 1,947 yards and 16 touchdowns, the former Eastern Washington standout is still a dependable player and would be a fantastic complement to Jaxon Smith-Njigba in Seattle’s offense.

Kupp’s savvy route running and reliable hands would make him a lethal short and intermediate playmaker for newly signed quarterback Sam Darnold. Additionally, the former third-round pick will be cheap to sign, as Spotrac projects Kupp will land a two-year deal worth around $22 million, which averages to $11 million per year. Outside of signing Darnold, the Seahawks haven’t been very active in free agency, so they still have a good chunk of cap space.
