Daddy Yankee Sues Ex-Wife and Her Sister for $250 Million Over Alleged Financial Mismanagement
Daddy Yankee has filed a $250 million lawsuit against his ex-wife, Mireddys González, and her sister, Ayeicha González Castellanos, alleging financial mismanagement, breach of contract, and defamation.
According to Billboard and the Los Angeles Times, the 49-year-old Puerto Rican rapper, known for Gasolina, filed the lawsuit on March 4, 2025.
Allegations of Financial Misconduct
The lawsuit claims González and Castellanos, who previously held executive roles in Daddy Yankee’s businesses, withdrew $100 million from corporate accounts before a court forced them to relinquish control.
The allegations center around two of his companies:
- El Cartel Records (founded in 1997), where González served as CEO.
- Los Cangris Inc., where Castellanos was secretary/treasurer.
Upon regaining control, Daddy Yankee—real name Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez—allegedly discovered deleted emails, expired uncashed royalty checks, and other financial irregularities. The lawsuit states that González and Castellanos “concentrated power beyond their authorization, making negligent and selfish decisions that harmed both the companies and Daddy Yankee as an artist.”
$80 Million Bank Withdrawal Dispute
In December 2024, Daddy Yankee had already filed a motion against González, accusing her of making an unauthorized $80 million withdrawal from El Cartel Records’ bank account.
Divorce After Nearly 30 Years of Marriage
The lawsuit follows the couple’s December 2024 divorce after nearly 30 years of marriage. Daddy Yankee and González, who wed in 1995, share two adult children, Jesaaelys, 28, and Jeremy, 26.
At the time of their separation, Daddy Yankee wrote on Instagram:
“With a heart full of respect and honesty, I want to share important news about my personal life. After more than two decades of marriage and months of trying to save my marriage, my lawyers have responded to the divorce petition filed by Mireddys.”
“I respect Mireddys’ decision and appreciate the time we shared—full of blessings, values, and love. Our beautiful family will always remain our priority.”
Legal Battle Continues
Attorneys for both parties have not yet responded to requests for comment. The case is expected to unfold in court in the coming months.
