Beyoncé’s Father Mathew Knowles Slams Kanye West Over Offensive Remarks About Her Twins

Beyoncé’s father, Mathew Knowles, has spoken out in defense of her youngest children, 7½-year-old twins Rumi and Sir, following Kanye West’s derogatory comments on X.
On March 18, West, 47, posted a now-deleted message questioning the mental capacity of Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s twins using offensive language. “WAIT HAS ANYONE EVER SEEN JAY Z AND BEYONCÉS YOUNGER KIDS,” he wrote, sparking outrage. Beyoncé, 43, and Jay-Z, 55, also share a 13-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy.
Three days later, Knowles, 73, addressed the controversy in an interview with TMZ. “People pay a price for being stupid, especially in the music industry,” he said sharply, adding, “I’m hopeful Kanye gets the mental health help he needs.”
Knowles’ comments followed a response from his ex-wife, Tina Knowles, 71, who also shares daughter Solange with him. On March 19, Tina took to Instagram to defend her family, initially captioning a lighthearted video with a pointed message about “ignorance and evil,” according to TMZ and Page Six. The caption, which appeared to reference West’s remarks about her grandchildren, was later edited to a simpler note: “Corny joke, time! ❤️.”
In the video, while on set for a photoshoot, Tina shared a playful joke: “What happens when a snowman throws a tantrum? He has a meltdown. Y’all know that’s funny.”
Beyoncé has long emphasized the importance of protecting her children’s privacy. In a September 2024 GQ interview, she revealed her efforts to maintain boundaries in the spotlight. “It’s very easy for celebrities to turn our lives into performance art,” she said. “I’ve made an extreme effort to stay true to my boundaries and protect myself and my family. No amount of money is worth my peace.”
