The Las Vegas Raiders still have a plethora of needs that could be addressed through free agency, including wide receiver. Outside of Jakobi Meyers, the Raiders don’t have a starting-caliber player at the position and must add another playmaker for quarterback Geno Smith.
The free-agent wide receiver market is pretty dry, but LAFB Network’s Ryan Anderson believes Las Vegas should sign one of the top remaining players on the market in Houston Texans free agent Stefon Diggs.
“Stefon Diggs’ 2024 season with the Houston Texans was unfortunately cut short by a season-ending ACL tear after just eight games. This injury brought an end to his impressive six-year streak of consecutive 1,000-yard receiving seasons,” Anderson wrote.
“At 31 years old, Diggs is likely best suited for a role as a high-caliber No. 2 receiver at this stage of his career. While teams will undoubtedly have concerns regarding his recovery from the ACL injury, his talent and track record firmly establish him as one of the top receivers available in his class,” Anderson added.
Diggs is coming off a torn ACL, but the veteran was productive in the limited games he played in 2024, hauling in 47 receptions for 496 yards and three touchdowns.
The Raiders are in desperate need of any talent in the receiver room, and adding Diggs on a team-friendly contract would be an excellent move by general manager John Spytek. The four-time Pro Bowler is still a savvy route runner who would be a solid security blanket and intermediate threat for Smith and Chip Kelly’s offense.
Spotrac projects Diggs will land a one-year deal worth $13.7 million, while Pro Football Focus has the former All-Pro’s market value at $16 million for one season. If Las Vegas can add Diggs for a reasonable price, it would be a fantastic acquisition that addresses a pressing need.
