As part of her election campaign, Kamala Harris went on the Call Her Daddy podcast.
The Democratic presidential nominee shared her thoughts on abortion rights and student debt while on the hit podcast. The videotaping of the podcast was available on Spotify, and fans didn’t seem to notice the difference in the set.
Harris allegedly shelled out more than six figures for a duplicate of Alex Cooper’s Los Angeles podcast studio to be created in a Washington, DC hotel. This included the podcast studio’s plants, shelving, and marble table between Cooper and Harris.
Also on the show, Harris hit out against those who slammed her for not having any children, like Arkansas governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders. Harris has two stepchildren through her decade-long marriage to Doug Emhoff – Cole and Ella.
“This is not the 1950s anymore,” the then-candidate said and added that it’s “very important for women to lift each other up.”
She spoke about her “modern family” dynamic, saying she does have children. “I consider it to be a real blessing. And I have two beautiful children: Cole and Ella, who call me Mamala, we have a very modern family, my husbands ex-wife is a friend of mine.”
According to The Washington Examiner, Harris’ campaign paid big bucks for her appearance. It appeared that she had the cash as her campaign, supportive PACs, and the Democratic National Committee raised over $2.3 billion in contributions.
The Washington Examiner also found that “event production” like the Call Her Daddy podcast appearance was the biggest category of spending. Other costs in this section went to the various music performances Harris had over the campaign trail, including Katy Perry and Lady Gaga performing at a Pennsylvania rally the day before the election.
Sadly Harris’ spending didn’t pay off, as the former attorney general of California lost the electoral college and the popular vote to republican candidate Donald Trump. After Trump’s win, fans of Call Her Daddy wondered if Cooper would have the president-elect or his daughter Ivanka Trump on the hit show. Trump previously appeared on Joe Rogan’s podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience.
