Former President Donald Trump criticized Vice President Kamala Harris on Sunday for attending fundraisers on the West Coast while Hurricane Helene wreaked havoc in Florida’s Big Bend region. Speaking at a rally in Erie, Pennsylvania, he claimed Harris was in San Francisco, which he alleged she “totally destroyed” during her tenure as district attorney, and called her fundraising activities inappropriate given the hurricane’s devastation.
Trump condemned Democrats for raising money from “radical-left lunatic donors” while parts of the country were suffering from the disaster, which has resulted in at least 90 fatalities. He expressed condolences to those affected by the hurricane, stating, “I’d like to send my love and prayers to the families of those who have died and all of those who are displaced and suffering.”
He suggested that Harris should be in the affected areas instead of fundraising, saying, “That’s what she’s getting paid for, right?”
Harris’s fundraising events followed a successful August, during which her campaign raised $361 million, bringing her total cash on hand to $404 million, compared to Trump’s $130 million for the same period.
